NATURE’S WILDLIFE
We must protect all species on Earth. Our wildlife species are endangered. Can you image living without the lion, tiger, or bear? There are 41,415 animals on the threatened species list as of 2022. The Photo Ark project is a National Geographic documentary series, led by photographer Joel Sartore whom is making awareness of threaten animals species. He didn’t inspire this work that I took in 2004-2005. But, when I reflect back on this imagery I think of the photo Ark project series. The animals I captured on film will have a featured word to represent them. Lemur-intelligence, green tree frog-adaptivity, polar bear-courage, porcupine-protection, the cayman-survival, and the kangaroo-justice. Whether your an animal or a human being you need these traits to thrive.
I am passionate about saving the monarch butterflies which are now an endangered species. Many people and countries are trying to save the monarch butterfly. The monarch butterflies scientific name in Greek translates to sleepy transformation. I feel the parallel with justice and the monarch butterflies and all that they represent for American’s and citizens of nations all over the world. Monarch butterflies are adaptive and they instinctively know where to go to overwinter from November-May. Monarch butterflies migrate from Canada and United States to Mexico every fall. Sometimes migration species of butterflies and dragonflies are picked up on weather radar. In 2019 I made a painting of this with migrate children free with wings. This was when they were shown in the media in desolate camps behind high fences like prisoners. We must protect human species just as we do animals species. It’s why I created my justice text project to embody the miracle of life. To inspire, embrace, and protect all humans from political corruption and abuse of power.
To include the importance of November being Family Court Awareness Month is crucial to our own survival. We need more awareness about this movement. Over 200 cities and counties have proclaimed November as Family Court Awareness Month as of 2021. We can do better than this and must protect our children, our Mother’s and our Father’s. Can you imagine living without your loved ones? Just as we fight to protect all animals species we must fight to protect our children.
