Charlotte Mouquin: Balancing Chaos
Balancing Chaos highlights new work by artist Charlotte Mouquin. This virtual exhibition of abstractions is a collective portrait that reflects our everyday lives. Oil on canvas, and mixed media water based media pieces depict mental maps, memory, unfolding journeys, interaction, and micro/macrocosmic maps of collective challenges, hopes, and perseverance.
Mouquin’s current visual vocabulary has been developed over the past decade plus, going back to the beginning of Art School in 2000. Personal narratives, trauma and strength are addressed through the shapes, lines and colors with an evolving catharsis for the visceral mediums. Works on paper begin with watercolor, ink or gouache, and then get defined through acrylic line work, and black ink.
The new 2020 Silver Lining Drawing series includes silver leaf and allude to the glimmers of hope despite challenging times. The spiraling shapes, forms and pathways provoke hope and healing despite current events or collective trauma.
