Ashley Gerst
“The tapestries are based on my great-grandmother's house. and backyard in my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. When I was young, this house was full of life. My Italian great-grandmother was one of eleven brothers and sisters. They purchased a double house in the early 1960s. The bachelors, widows and divorcee siblings lived together on the first floor apartment, in the attic or in the basement. My great-grandmother's brother, his wife and their two children lived in the upstairs unit.
This home is featured in my upcoming film: Being Pushed Down By Shadow. The film does not have a release date, but is estimated to be about 20 minutes in length when completed.”
