For more than 40 years the Arts Council of Rockland has had the pleasure of awarding Community Arts, Individual Artist and Arts Education Grants to the Rockland Community. With the financial support that we have received from NYSCA’s Decentralization (DEC) grant program, these projects have uplifted and enriched the cultural life of Rockland. In the past few years, NYSCA has gradually been moving towards a regional, multi-county approach to DEC grant administration and has been consolidating its programs to facilitate greater opportunities for artists and educators. As a result, NYSCA has decided that, effective Summer 2017, the Rockland Decentralization Grant opportunity will be managed by ArtsWestchester. Please note that this consolidation will not in any way affect the amount of funding that is available to you as an artist, educator or cultural organization. We will be working closely with ArtsWestchester to make sure that a smooth transition occurs so that Rockland County artists receive the most up to date information available. For more information about applying for DEC grants please contact ArtsWestchester’s Associate Director of Programs Sue Abbott, at email@example.com
We would also like to announce that our Executive Director of the last four years, Janey Tannenbaum, has moved on to pursue new horizons. We know that you will join us in thanking her for the wonderful work that she has done at ACOR and for using her special talents to enrich and enhance the artistic community of Rockland. Although we will miss Janey, we are looking forward to hiring new personnel that will help us bring the vision of ACOR to even greater heights. To this end, we will be accepting applications for the position of Part Time Executive Director. If you are interested in applying, please electronically send your cover letter, resume and any additional supporting credentials by August 18, 2017 to:

Moving forward, we plan to continue to provide you with professional development programs, workshops, networking opportunities like IDEA City, and many other programs of interest to you. In just the past few months alone we hosted (to a sold-out audience) the world-class jazz ensemble Bill O’Connell and the Latin Jazz All-Stars. In May, an equally successful Songs of Protest concert in partnership with ArtsROCK was enjoyed by an audience of over 500 happy and socially-conscious folks. We have many more exciting programs planned for you. So, please stay in touch. You can find us on Facebook at Arts Council of Rockland or follow us on Twitter @ACORRockland. If you need to reach us directly with your questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at Shirley@ArtsCouncilofRockland.org
Meanwhile, our offices are open and we are available to answer your questions. We may take a day or two to get back to you, so please be patient; we look forward to being fully operational in the fall.
On behalf of the Board of Directors for the Arts Council of Rockland, I thank you for your continued support and membership. We look forward to serving you in the many years to come.
Board Chair, Arts Council of Rockland
